Erofili Dance School

Erofili Dance School was founded in 2005 in Rethymno, with love and respect for Greek tradition and especially for Cretan traditional dance. From its founding to this day, it is a place where tradition, music, movement and a pedagogical approach meet, with the aim of preserving and passing on our cultural heritage to younger generations.

The school is housed at 24 Chatzimichali Giannari Street, in a refined, renovated space in Rethymno. It operates under the guidance of specialised, certified dance teachers — Physical Education instructors specialised in Greek Traditional Dance, with pedagogical competence.

The school was founded in 2005 by Yannis and Popi Kryovrysanaki, who, with passion, consistency and love for tradition, laid the foundations of a path that continues to this day. With the same philosophy and the same values, the torch has now passed to the next generation, Vasilis and Athina Kryovrysanaki, who continue the family’s work, contributing to the preservation, dissemination and scholarly teaching of Greek Traditional Dance.

Throughout its course, Erofili Dance School takes an active part in cultural events and activities, presenting dances and customs from various regions of Greece and giving its students the chance to experience first-hand the richness and diversity of Greek tradition.

At the same time, the school has a strong social and volunteer presence, taking part in voluntary blood drives and supporting an active Blood Bank, showing in practice that culture, tradition and people can be inseparable parts of a shared effort of giving and solidarity.
